The Nigeria Football Federation have annpunced that the men’s national team, Super Eagles will play against Mexico in an international friendly on May 28.
The Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar holding between November 21 and December 18 after losing one of the African tickets to Ghana and is now considered to be a good fit for teams heading to the World Cup with African opponents in their group.
The Mexico versus Nigeria game will be played at the AT & T Stadium, Arlington, Texas, USA.
The NFF relieved the entire Super Eagles technical staff following the World Cup disappointment but is expected to name a new substantive head coach within the month of April.
Nigeria and Mexico have met six times, with the former winning three, while three have ended in draws.
Both countries battled to a 1-1 draw when they first met at the FIFA Confederation Cup in 1995 and last faced off in an international friendly in 2021 with Mexico winning 4-0.
The Nigerian side in the 4-0 rout was made up of entirely home based players from the Nigeria Professional Football League.
