N40,000 Minimum Wage: Edo Govt Tasks Workers On Efficient Service Delivery

Edo State Government has tasked workers in the state to reciprocate the kind gestures of the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki given the increment of the minimum wage in the state from N30,000 to N40,000 by ensuring effective delivery of quality service to the people.

The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa who spoke to journalists in Benin City, charged the workers to remain productive and committed to carrying out their duties.

Okungbowa said the Obaseki-led government remains committed to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state and will sustain programmes and initiatives to improve the living standards of the workers and Edo citizens.

He said, “The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration is committed to improving the welfare of workers as the government identifies the civil and public service as the fulcrum of good governance and as such is initiating policies and programmes to ensure that they are positioned for optimal service delivery.”

Hailing the Governor for the increment and placing workers and pensioners at the forefront of his government’s programmes, the Head of Service said: “The development is worth the celebration because the increment of the minimum wage is coming at a time when some states are giving reasons for not being able to pay the N30, 000 minimum wage. Amid the increase, Edo State has continuously and steadily paid its workers as and when due.”

Okungbowa charged every worker in Edo to put in their best and remain dedicated to their duties, noting, “The increment of the minimum wage is part of measures to ensure that our people are enabled to do their job, much more than they did before. So, every worker in the civil and public service must put in a lot more effort to justify the confidence reposed on them by ensuring that the bureaucracy of government is adequately productive.”
