Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has agreed to join Manchester United this summer after talks over a contract extension at his current club broke down.
Mount’s representatives and Chelsea have been locked in contract negotiations but a number of factors have conspired to deny the West London side of the chance to tie down the England international.
Now, sources in the English media like The Telegraph has revealed on Thursday that United have stolen the march and are set to hand a long term contract to the player.
Mount has been hampered by an abdominal injuryOptimism Or Trouble At The Bridge: Can Chelsea Reflect Chukwuemeka’s Confidence Or Would Stars Seek New Homes? with his last game for the Blues coming in the month of April.
Mount’s time at the Stamford Bridge seemingly would take further hit with the July 1 arrival of Christopher Nkunku.
Chelsea are reportedly set to release a lot of first team players from their expensive contracts while the loan deal of Joao Felix who was hirthero expected to stay beyond his season-long loan deal will not come to fruition.
Meanwhile Chelsea have rejected outright a £30m bid from Brighton and Hoves Albion to sign Levi Colwill permanently.
Chelsea, according to reports making the rounds in the media, consider the youngster a part of the club’s future and therefore not for sale.
The Premier League transfer window will officially open on June 14 in England and close on September 1.
Chelsea are expected to let go of players like Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Christian Pulisoc, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Marc Cucurella, Matteo Kovacic and the aforementioned Mount this summer.
