Moghalu Blames Nigeria’s Security Crisis on Poor Education

A former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kinglsey Moghalu, says lack of access to quality education in northern Nigeria is responsible for the current security crisis in the region.

Moghalu who is the keynote speaker in the ongoing Prime Business Africa’s  webinar on funding tertiary education in Nigeria, stated that education remained the key to the country’s development, and should be prioritised.

According to him, the different standard of education system designed for northern Nigeria has not been helpful.

“Lowering standards for the northern part of the country for political reason is killing the system and responsible for the crisis in the region,” he said.

Moghalu, a presidential aspirant in the 2023 general elections noted that education sector would not receive anything less than 20% if elected as president.

Education sector allocation in the 2021 budget is 5.6%.
