Man City In Seventh Heaven With Ruthless Win Against Hapless Leeds United

Manchester City produced a vintage performance Tuesday night at the Etihad stadium to put seven unanswered goals past Leeds United in their seventh successive wins and without a recognisable striker.

Kevin de Bruyne marked his return from his injury setbacks to hit a brace in the emphatic 7-0 battering of Leeds coached by a man Pep Guardiola considers the best coach ever, Marcelo Bielsa.

Having lost in the league to Stoke 8-1 in 1934, and two later cup games by 7-0 margins, for Leeds this represented the latest alarming development in a season that looks destined for a long relegation fight.

Phil Foden started the rout after just eight minutes, the 500th Premier League goal City have netted under Guardiola – in just 207 games, making the Catalan the quickest manager to reach that landmark.

The defending champions and league leaders also scored through Jack Grealish in what was his first headed goal in over two years, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Ake.

That made it six different scorers on the night.

City are four point above Liverpool in the league table on 41 points to the Reds’ 37 with the goal difference massively an important marker thstvthe Premier League rivals will take note of heading into the busy festive season.
