In a passionate address to mark Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary, Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde rallied fellow Nigerians to envision and labor towards a brighter future for the country.
He emphasized the need for all citizens to focus on the nation’s possibilities and opportunities rather than dwelling on its challenges, asserting that it was time to prioritize the well-being of the nation.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all Nigerians on this significant occasion.
Despite acknowledging that Nigeria’s journey has been fraught with tumultuous challenges, Makinde passionately articulated that the present moment offers a unique chance to rectify past mistakes.

Governor Makinde stated, “Our journey as a country has been tumultuous and challenging, but the possibilities and opportunities ahead outweigh the challenges that we face.” He continued, “Rather than being overwhelmed by the challenges, we should be motivated by the prospects.”
Makinde urged Nigerians not to surrender to despair but instead be inspired to dream of a more prosperous and unified Nigeria.
He painted a vision of a Nigeria where diversity, tribe, religion, or orientation would not matter, a nation where both the rich and the poor would thrive, and industry would be celebrated while indolence would be rejected.
He envisioned a Nigeria with minimal unemployment, devoid of out-of-school children, and capable of attracting great talents. A Nigeria that future generations would be proud to inherit.
With an impassioned plea for unity and collective effort, Governor Makinde concluded, “With all hands on deck, we can make Nigeria great. We can build the Nigeria of our dreams. Let’s put Nigeria first. Let’s come together to chart a new path for Nigeria’s greatness. A better, stronger, more prosperous Nigeria is possible.”
As the nation celebrates its 63rd Independence Anniversary, Governor Makinde’s call to action resonates with many Nigerians, offering hope and a renewed sense of purpose in the quest for a brighter future.
