Lekki Deep Seaport To Commence Operations In 2022

LEKKI Deep Sea Port will commence operations in 2022, the Chief Finance Officer, Lekki Port LFTZ, Cai Pingzhen has said.

Pingzhen said the construction of the sea port had reached an estimated 58.15%.

“It is on track for completion in 2022, and operations will also commence in 2022,” he said.

The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during a visit to assess the level of work done on the project, had expressed satisfaction with the progress.

He said the state government would award the upgrade and dualisation of road network in the axis in readiness for the take-off of the port.

Pingzhen said the project had been on for long due to approvals, permits, and licenses from several states, federal and international agencies including the Federal Executive Council.

According to him, the project has over 38 different approvals and permits from various regulatory bodies.

Pingzhen said the port project is fully funded with the infusion of $221,047,248 equity from China Harbour Engineering Company (CHE) and the $629 million loan by China Development Bank.
