Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi on Thursday was nominated for the prestigious Premier League Player of the Month of September award alongside five other outstanding players in the month under review.
Iwobi’s nomination followed his exceptional performances for his club, Everton which saw them record their first win in the league following their 1-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday.
The former Arsenal forward assisted Neal Maupay’s goal in the Toffees’ 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The other stars in the running for the award include Manchester City’s Kelvin De Brunye, Philip Billing of Bournemouth, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of Tottenham, Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United for the award.
August winner of the Award, Erling Haaland missed out in the nomination.
Alex Iwobi has started all Everton’s seven league matches in the season and his impressive show have seen Everton move to 13 on the table after 2 defeats, 4 draws and one win in seven matches.
For the Coaches prize, Manchester United’s Eric ten Hag will contend with Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte and Bournemouth’s manager Gary O’Neil.
Mikel Arteta of Arsenal won the award for Coach of the Month in August having led the Gunners to five wins out of six games as table toppers.
The winners of the prizes will be announced next week ahead of the commencement of league action following the international break.
Other Nigeria players to have scooped the prize previously include Peter Osaze Odemwingie, Austin Jay Jay Okocha and Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
