Investors Earn N256.3 billion, As Stock Market Cap Rises To N28.15 trillion

Investors closed trading on Monday with an N256.3 billion gain, as the market capitalisation appreciated by 0.9 per cent.

This raised the market capitalisation up from N27.89 trillion to N28.15 trillion.

Similarly, the All Share Index increased to 51,693.08 ASI, adding 470.74 basis points to Friday’s 51,222.34 ASI.

Investors traded N2.90 billion for 229.21 million shares on Monday in 3,900 deals. It contrasted with the 195.73 million shares, worth N7.44 billion, that were exchanged in 3,650 deals last week Friday. 

Top five gainers

Thomas Wyatt share appreciated by 9.28 per cent to rise from N0.97kobo to N1.06 per share 

Associated Bus Transport grew by 8 per cent, up from N0.25kobo to N0.27kobo per share 

Royal Exchange ended trading with N1.08 from N1.02 per share, rising by 5.88 per cent. 

Airtel Africa gained N80 to end trading at N1630, having opened with N1550. 

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance stock was up by 5 per cent, closing with N0.63kobo from N0.60kobo per share 

Top five losers

Union Bank depreciated by N0.60kobo, dwindling from N6.95kobo to N6.35kobo per share. 

Wema Bank also fell by N0.32kobo to end trading at N3.58kobo, after opening with N3.90kobo per share. 

AIICO followed the same path, losing 6.25 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.60kobo from N0.64kobo per share.   

Caverton reported a decline of 4.95 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N1.01 to end trading at N0.96kobo per share.  

Stanbic IBTC share depreciated to N32 from N33.45kobo, after losing N1.45kobo during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

Sterling Holdings reported 85.17 million shares valued at N119.25 million were traded on its floor   

UBA recorded 21.62 million shares valued at N173.30 million  

FBN Holdings saw investors trade 20.09 million of its shares valued at N173.30 million 

Access Corp recorded 10.32 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N95.52 million  

Zenith Bank reported 8.29 million shares valued at N202.48 million exchanged investors’ hands
