Interim Govt: DSS Mocking Nigerian Judiciary On ‘Frivolous Injunction’ Charge – Kenneth Okonkwo

Spokesperson of the Labour Party Campaign Council, Barr Kenneth Okonkwo has said the Department of State Services (DSS) is mocking the Nigerian judiciary by saying that it could be used to issue a “frivolous injunction” to stop the inauguration of a new administration on May 29.

Okonkwo, who made the claim in a statement on his Twitter handle on Thursday, said the DSS alarm was a charge against the Nigerian judiciary.

DSS had in a statement released Wednesday evening signed by its spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, claimed that some political actors it described as “misguided elements” are plotting to scuttle the inauguration of the incoming administration and foist an interim government on the country.

The agency while condemning the alleged interim government plans as such that could plunge the nation into a constitutional crisis, alleged that the plotters intend to also obtain a court order halting the transition programme for all elected offices both at Federal and State levels.

Labour Party chieftain, however, stated that the DSS has by that alarm it raised, called to question, the integrity of the judicial system and urged the agency to go further in exposing them.

“The @OfficialDSSNG mocks the Nigerian judiciary. Alleges that planners of the interim government intend to use them to truncate democracy by making them issue frivolous injunctions. Hmmm!! So Nigerian courts are now notorious injunction issuers? DSS should go further and expose them,” Okonkwo stated.
