INEC Releases Guidelines For 2023 Elections

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the regulations and guideline for the conduct of polls.

According INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who disclosed this during an inter-agency meeting at Abuja on Friday, said the Regulations and Guidelines together with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), and the Electoral Act 2022 jointly constitute the electoral legal framework.

“With the release of the Regulations and Guidelines today, and the publication of the Strategic Plan (SP) 2022-2026 and Election Project Plan 2023 earlier, the Commission has virtually concluded the planning processes for the 2023 General Election nine months ahead of the election,” Prof. Yakubu stated.

He added that the Commission has continue with other preparations for the 2023 General Election.

The Regulations and Guidelines which was circulated through social media platforms on Friday afternoon is a 37-page legal document with provisions that guide different elections in the country conducted by INEC at different times.

The document contains three parts. Parts: 1 – Elections and Arrangements For Their Conduct; 2- Accreditation and Voting Procedure at Elections; 3- Collation of Election Results and Making of Returns.
