INEC Cannot Declare 2023 Elections Winners, Losers – Sowore

Presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), Olowore Sowore, on Friday weighed in on the February 25 election, which has been widely condemned as being fraught with irregularities.

Speaking on Arise News’ political and socio-economic programme, The Morning Show,  on the outcome of the polls, Sowore insisted that there was no credible election held on Saturday.

Sowore polled a total of 14,608 votes in the recently held Presidential election.

“We went for an election. I remember after the election of 2019, I came to your show and revealed they no longer hold elections on this country but selections.

“This is what exactly happened in 2023. You cannot be reeling out the numbers of any candidate when an election did not hold.

“If an election did not hold according to the laws establishing an election, you cannot declare and determine the winners and losers.

Sowore stressed that the errors associated with the conduct of the last Presidential election in 2019 have not been improved upon.

“That’s simple logic. So reeling out numbers in 2019 that was fraudulent and that of 2023, that was fraudulent, we’re making the same mistakes all over again. That is why. I did not respond to your ‘how market’ joke. This is not a joke anymore.

“This country’s people have been taken for granted for too long and we should not joke about it.

“When people go out for elections, they queue up and expect results that tallies with their expectations,” Sowore reiterated.

Sowore added that the new Naira redesign policy was a ploy to make the Presidential flagbearers have false sense of confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Supreme Court verdict on the redesigned naira notes was  given by the Court on Friday, March 3.
