“I’ll Declare State Of Emergency On Infrastructural Development In Anambra” – Valentine Ozigbo

PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 6 governorship election in Anambra, Valentine Ozigbo, has stated that he would prioritize rapid development of infrastructure in the state if elected.

Ozigbo, stated this on Tuesday in a chat with journalists when he visited the scene of a recent market fire incident in Ihiala Local Government Area.

The PDP flag bearer disclosed that if elected, his first executive action as governor would be to declare a state of emergency on infrastructural development in the state.

He described the level of infrastructure in the state as, “deplorable and grossly below basic standards for governance.”

He added, “I have close to two years been traveling through all the 21 Local Government Areas in our state, visiting all of them, a minimum of eight times, so I know how backward we are in terms of roads and other social services.”

He specifically questioned why the Atani-Osammala-Ogwuikpele Road has not been developed beyond the point former Governor Peter Obi left it close to 8 years ago.

He emphasised the importance of the road to people of the area, saying that he has put it on the top list of priority projects to be done in his first 100-Days in office.

“Atani-Osammala-Ogwuikpele Road is a vital access way for the people of Ogbaru to move their agricultural produce to the important Onitsha market. It is a tragedy that the Obiano government has abandoned them.”

“Umueze-Anam Road is another road of importance and concern to me that it has been abandoned by Obiano. Obi built the road and stopped at Mmiata. The master plan is for the road to extend to Anaku.

“Roads are basic infrastructure and should be a right of every Anambra citizen. We deserve the best and my sincere pledge is that I will ensure that we once again have roads we can be proud of,” Ozigbo stated.

He pointed out that the people of the state deserve to reap the benefit of good governance in terms of access to public services.

“Ndi Anambra deserve dignity whenever or where ever they are using public services, whether it is roads, public water system, hospitals, transportation, schools, or interacting with any government ministry or agency.

“I intend to deliver a truly 21st Century governance to my people. By the grace of God, we will succeed,” Ozigbo declared.

He revealed that he had set up a think-tank group to help perfect his first 100-days Marshall plan if elected as the governor.

Ozigbo who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, has been vigorously campaigning for the Anambra governorship seat with his message, “Ka Anambra Chawapu,” meaning, ‘let Anambra shine out’.
