Nigerian Twitter users have been reacting to news of arrest warrant issued by United States Court on celebrated police officer, Abba Kyari.
Prime Business Africa reported that Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Ray Hushpuppi, who is being tried for fraud related activities in the US had claimed that he bribed Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police (DCP) to have one of his rivals, Kelly Chibuzor Vincent, arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over the $1.1 million fraud that victimised a Qatari businessman.
This was disclosed in a statement by the US department of justice. DCP Kyari had since denied the allegation in an Instagram post he made on his verified handle.

@DrOlufunmilayo tweeted, “Disgraced Fraudster Hushpuppi says he paid StarBoy Police DCP Abba Kyari to do dirty jobs for him. In a serious country, Kyari will have no job to resume to this morning and he will be investigated. But in Buhari’s Nigeria, Thieves and Terrorists are special members of society”.
Another twitter influencer @SavvyRinu commented “Whatever HushPuppi said Abba Kyari did, he did that and more. You can’t imagine the number of lives wasted & ruined as a result of Abba Kyari’s nefarious activities in the Nigerian Police Force.”
Dr. Dipo Awojide, who popularly tweets with the handle @OgbeniDipo said, “How can you, a Detective and a Deputy Police Commissioner not know that you need to distance yourself from and have absolutely nothing to do with someone like Ramon Abbas aka Ray Hushpuppi? Abba Kyari will need good lawyers.”
@Moris_Monye also tweeted, “The United States uncovering the corruption of DCP Abba Kyari with “Hushpuppi” is one shocker I’ve had this morning. The Nigerian Police must say something about this.”
Wale Adetona with the handle @iSlimfit tweeted, “Abba Kyari said he only sold Nigerian native wears and cap to Hushpuppi. I never knew he was a fashion stylist and owambe cloth distributor.”
