FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: How Flamingos Players Fared Against Poor New Zealand

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team the Flamingos bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Germany Tuesday with a 4-0 win over New Zealand on Friday in the team’s second Group B match of the tournament.

GK: Faith Omilani
The goalkeeper made a good strings of saves l in the first half albeit the challenge on Friday were less threatening. The defenders in front of her were also good on the day. 6/10.

DEFENDERS

Miracle Usani
The rightback scored her second goal of the tournament when she made it 2-0 in the 34th minute of the game. Hardworking as ever. 7/10.

Timuninu Adeshina
Playing at left back, Adeshina who is also adept in central defence assisted a goal and was really a good outlet to launch attacks down the left flank. 7/10.

Comfort Folorunsho

A much improved performance from the tall defender who covered Adeshina whenever the latter ventured forward down the flanks. 7/10.

Shakira Oyinlola
Oyinlola was excellent in defence. She brought the ball out of the back a lot and made clearances to deny the Kiwis a few times. 7/10.

MIDFIELDERS
Mary Aderemi

A decent game for the defensive midfielder even though the game was less likely to trouble the Nigerian side. 6/10.

Blessing Emmanuel
Prime Business believes the deputy captain had a better game against Germany than the rout against New Zealand but credit must still go the way of the attacking midfielder making things tick over. 6.5/10.

Alvine Dah-Zossu
The captain has got quick feet and is really pacy from the flanks but her form during the qualifiers were more electrifying the World Cup form.

Substituted on Friday same as on Tuesday in the defeat to Germany so hasn’t seen a full 90 minutes. 6/10.

Taiwo Afolabi
The diminutive midfielder had a great performance on Friday than she had on Tuesday. The team scored their third goal through her in the 75th minute with a toepoked long range strike. 8/10.

Bisola Mosaku

Good on the ball with her mazy runs and dribbles albeit her finishing needs to be improved upon. 7/10..

ATTACK

Amina Bello
One of the few changes made in the lineup chosen by coach Oloworooke.

Bello paired Opeyemi Ajakaye in attack and was a difficult one for the New Zealanders. She missed a few chances that could have seen her team score more.

was a threat throughout with her footwoork, passed, shots. Excellent. 8.5/10.

Opeyemi Ajakaye
Big, Strong and powerful striker did not score on Friday against New Zealand but she was at the heart of so many attacking move by the Nigerian side. 9/10.

SUBS
Edidiong Etim
The forward was a second half substitute on Friday unlike against Germany when she started. Her goal was a pitch of a strike. 7/10.

Blessing Edafe
Edafe made her World Cup debut on Friday in the second half of the game and almost scored when her shot went wide off target. Could have been the fifth goal of the ball was a bit more lower. 5/10.atings
