The Black Stars of Ghana are expected to release their team list for the 2022 World Cup qualifying doubleheader against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on or before Monday with possible invitations to new players.
Interim Coach Otto Addo according to sources in Ghana will hand debut invitations to eight players for the games against three-time African champions Nigeria in one of five playoffs for Africa’s five tickets to the mundial in Qatar.
Last month (February 2022) Technical Adviser Chris Houghton went on a mission of convincing players of Ghana heritage to change allegiance and play for Ghana national team.
Leading the cast of players expected to honour the call include Callum Hudson Odoi, Tariq Lamptey & Inaki Williams who play for Chelsea, Brighton and Hoves Albion and Atletic Club respectively.
A few of those players had reportedly turned down the opportunity to represent Ghana while some are cautious about their decisions and are willing to change allegiance only if Ghana qualified for the World Cup.
