Google Bard: AI Chatbot Changing The Way People Search, Rival To Chat GPT

Highlights

• Google Bard is an AI chatbot designed to compete with ChatGPT and provides event planning, email drafting, and complex query responses.

• Key differences between Google Bard and ChatGPT include Bard’s mainly text-based and US English-only capabilities, occasional inaccuracies, and the ability to generate various content types.

• Google Bard offers richer context, integration with Google services, continuous improvement, better conversational flow, enhanced language capabilities, potential for personalization, stronger security, and a wider user base than ChatGPT.

Google Bard, a chatbot powered by Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA), is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool intended to compete with ChatGPT.

It offers services such as event planning, email drafting, and answering complex queries.

After being made available to the public on 21st March 2023 users were permitted to sign up for a waitlist to access the service, which is currently free of charge. However, it is uncertain whether the chatbot will continue to be free of charge in the future.

Key Differences:

While Google Bard and ChatGPT are similar in certain aspects, they differ in significant ways. Google Bard is mainly text-based and can only handle inputs and outputs in US English. Bard can generate text, translate languages, create different types of content, and provide informative responses to questions. Nonetheless, Google Bard has received criticism for its occasional inaccuracies, necessitating the use of a “Google It” button to verify the information provided by the chatbot.

Google Bard’s Full Capabilities:

Google Bard’s full capabilities, as an experimental service, are yet to be revealed. It can produce poems, codes, scripts, musical pieces, emails, letters, and more. However, caution is necessary when using chatbot AI to conduct research since Bard’s responses have raised concerns about plagiarism and incorrect sourcing of information by some users.

Face-Off Between ChatGPT and Google Bard

A face-off between ChatGPT, Bing and Google Bard revealed that both AIs performed similarly, with Bard often providing more context and detail in its responses. While ChatGPT is integrated into various platforms and plugins, Google Bard is primarily a standalone product in its test phase, with possible changes in the future.

Google’s AI Strategy

Google has several AI projects, including investing in Anthropic, an AI startup, and integrating AI tools into Google Maps, Docs, and Gmail. The company also announced a 1,000 language translation AI and a music creation AI called MusicLM.

As an experimental service, Google Bard’s full capabilities are not yet known, and it is important to be cautious when using AI chatbots for research and information sourcing.
