FUTMinna Honours Ex-HODs Of Estate Mgt Dept For Excellence

DEPARTMENT of Estate Management and Valuation, School of Environmental Technology (SET), Federal University of Technology, Minna has honoured three of its former Heads of Department, Dr. Sunday Olatunji Oyegbile, ESV. Aderemi Oyewo and Prof. Isaac Ayodele Olatunji in recognition of their meritorious service to the department.

The former HODs were honoured during a valedictory party at SET Boardroom, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano, Minna.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullhi Bala, expressed gratitude to the Department of Estate Management and Valuation for organising the send forth party in honour of its former Heads of Department in recognition of their selfless service towards advancement of knowledge in the field of Estate Management, as well as training of top-notch professionals and academia who are making the Department and the University proud across the globe.

“This kind of event will spur others behind to serve diligently when given the chance to lead the Department,” he remarked.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Emmanuel Udensi, congratulated the awardees for their exemplary service to the Department, while noting that others after them have built upon the lofty foundation that they laid during their eventful tenures.

Prof. Bala advised the staff to continue to work together for the growth of the Department and the University at large.
He also applauded staff and students of the Department for winning different laurels for the University.

Dean of SET, Arc. Prof. Remi Ebenezer Olagunju said the event was first of its kind in the School and commended the Department for remembering its former Heads of Department, adding that the award is well deserved judging by the notable contributions made by the awardees during their stewardship.

Prof. Olagunju thanked the Vice-Chancellor and other guests for making out time out of their busy schedules to be part of the event and wished the awardees well in all their future endeavours.

Earlier in his address, HOD, Estate Management and Valuation, ESV. Prof. Olurotimi Adebowale Kemiki, stated that the event was organised to honour the academic titans of the Department whose tenure of stewardship was characterized by notable accomplishments, adding that the alumni, staff and students of the Department owe them a debt of gratitude for their immeasurable contributions.

Kemiki said, “Words cannot express how thankful we are to you all. With the solid foundation you have laid, the Department has grown to be an enviable and leading provider of real estate education in Northern Nigeria. The successes of our alumni in both private and public sectors throughout the country is a testament of the quality of training that the department prides itself on.

“Recently, our department emerged national winner in the 2021 NIESV quiz competition organised for Estate Management students in Nigeria. This would not have been possible without your sacrifices and commitments to the service of the Department and indeed the University at large.”

Delivery the vote of thanks, Dr. (Mrs.) Naomi Ijadunola Popoola thanked dignitaries for attending the event and wished them journey mercies back to their various destination. Other dignitaries took turn to eulogise the awardees for their contributions to the department and the profession of Estate Management and Valuation in Nigeria.

Dr. Oyegbile laid the foundation for the establishment of the Department and served as HOD from 1991 to 2002, ESV. Oyewo held sway as HOD from 2002 to 2004 while Prof. Olatunji served as HOD from 2013 to 2016.

The event had many dignitaries in attendance, while other participants joined online via Zoom.
