Former Scotland Star Backs Balogun For Rangers Return

Former Scottish international Ally McCoist on Tuesday night has floated a sensational return to Rangers for Nigeria international Leon Balogun reports Prime Business Africa.

The 34-year-old was allowed to leave the Ibrox club this summer but McCoist has questioned that decision. The Gers legend feels Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side miss Balogun’s skillset at centre-back. Rangers drew 2-2 with PSV in their Champions League play-off clash at Ibrox as they conceded two poor goals from corner kicks.

McCoist reckons Balogun’s height and aerial prowess would’ve helped Rangers defend better from the set-pieces.

The 59-year-old also pointed out the Nigerian international’s love for Rangers and highlighted that he was in the crowd tonight to watch his former teammates.

Balogun was also in attendance at Ibrox for the previous qualifying clash against Union Saint-Gilloise and he’s yet to find a new club since departing Rangers as McCoist insisted he’d not have let him go.
