The Ori-Igi, Daleko and Iso Ẹlẹwà, areas of the popular Bodija Market in Ibadan Oyo State was gutted by fire at around 3am on Tuesday.
The Oyo State fire service intervened to stop the spread of the fire to other sections of the market.
The market which was established in Bodija in 1987, is close to the Oyo Ogbomosho Ilorin Interstate Road network. A vast market for majorly fruit, cattle sellers and other farm products, also has a licensed abattoir.
Cause of the fire is yet to be established said eye witnesses and some affected traders.
Among the victims whose shops were affected by the strange fire incident was a trader identified as Isiaka Kafilat who said she has lost goods worth about N2 million in the incident.
Oyo State Continues to experience incidents of fire for some years now, starting from the Spice and Pepper Market located at Shasha which was burnt following clash between the market leadership.
Recall also that Akesan and Gage Market in Oyo and Ibadan respectively also experienced fire disasters.
