FIFA World Cup Playoffs: Black Stars To Host Super Eagles In Kumasi

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi Ghana will be the venue for the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs between the Black Stars of Ghana and Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Cape Coast Stadium will be used for Ghana’s 65th independence anniversary on March 6 and will not be available to host the encounter.

The game will now take place at the Baba Yara Stadium, Ghana’s largest stadium, with a seating capacity of 40,528.

The first leg of the encounter will be played on March 23, while the reverse fixture is billed to hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on March 29.

The winner over the two legs will progress to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Both west African rivals had a dismal 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. While the Ghana side were eliminated in the group stage Nigeria exited the tournament in the round of 16 after a perfect group stage campaign that produced three wins out of three matches.
