SOCIAL Media sites like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram have abruptly shutdown leaving thousands of users across the world stranded in the digital world.
What started like a network hitch in one or two areas, has turned out to be a global issue in the past three hours.
According to reports seen on Downdetector, a website tracking the outage, all the three social network sites are having problem of outage with many users from different parts of the world reporting their inability to access the sites.
The global spread of the hitch is further confirmed by the fact that many have gone to Twitter to complain about not being able to use the three sites.
The cause of the service interruption has not yet been made public.
The social media giant only used Twitter to acknowledge the glitch on its platforms, but didn’t state when the sites will be restored.
Facebook is said to have suffered the most severe outage in its history, with the first one being in 2008.
