Ex-presidential Candidate, Bashir Tofa Dead

Former Presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) party, Alhaji Bashir Tofa has been announced dead.

Tofa, a great Nigerian Statesman who contested against MKO Abiola in the June 12, 1993 election that was annulled by Ibrahim Babangida’s military administration, reportedly died in the early hours of Monday at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano.

According to a family source, Tofa who is also a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) passed away after a brief illness. He may be buried today in line with Islamic rites.
