Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen in his post match press conference on Sunday blamed the officiating for his team’s ouster at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in the hands of Tunisia.
The Carthage Eagles defeated 1-0 albeit we refereeing decisions marred the game.
Speaking at the post match briefing, Eguavoen said the players fought a good fight but blamed officiating for his wards exit. He also congratulated Tunisia on their victory and passage into the quarter-finals
“The boys fought, officiating wasn’t fair. Congratulations to Tunisia.
“I have told the boys to pick up and ensure they qualify Nigeria for the World Cup,” he said.
“I won’t critics the referee because they are masters of the game but Alex Iwobi’s red card wasn’t a red. The foul was an intentional one,” Eguavoen added.
The Eagles will now look forward to the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs in March against Ghana.
