EFCC Moves Obiano To Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has just moved former Governor of Anambra State, Sir Willie Obiano to Abuja. He was, since his arrest on Thursday night, been in a detention centre in Lagos.

Obiano was reportedly arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on his way to Houston Texas shortly after handing over power to the new governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in Awka.

Sources said Obiano’s arrest was connected with the withdrawal of  huge sum of money amounting to some N4 billion from the state’s security  votes in just  one day.

Recall that the official transfer of power between Obiano and Soludo earlier on Thursday came with drama as the ex-governor’s wife, Ebele Obiano reportedly harassed Bianca Ojukwu, former beauty queen and widow of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Biafran leader, which resulted in exchange of slaps.

contrary to reports,  it is not yet clear if the former Anambra governor will be immediately charged to court by the EFCC .
