Ecobank, Okomu Oil Lift Stock Market, As Equity Cap Crosses N28 trillion

On Monday, the Nigerian stock market gained 0.49% to lift the equity capitalisation up from N27.87 trillion to N28.01 trillion.

The growth was on the back of a bullish run in the market share, which has seen the All Share Index rise from 51,705.61 ASI to 51,962.85 ASI, gaining 257.24 basis points.

At the ending of trading, investors exchanged over 266.51 million shares in 5,05 deals, worth N2.60 billion, on Monday.

Today’s trading was in contrast to Friday’s 156.08 million shares traded in 4,312 deals worth N1.83 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Ecobank gained N0.95kobo, after its stock price appreciated from N9.70kobo to N10.65kobo per share.
  • John Holt reported an uptick of 9.52 percent, as its share rose from N0.63kobo to N0.69kobo per share.
  • Linkage Assurance share went up by 9.43 percent, rising to N0.58kobo from N0.53kobo per share.
  • Okomu Oil saw its share price gain N16.50kobo, increasing to N210 from N193.50kobo per share.
  • Cornerstone recorded an appreciation of 6.45 percent, after the share went from N0.62kobo to N0.66kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • PZ share depreciated by N1.25kobo, dwindling from N12.50kobo to N11.25kobo per share.
  • Eterna share dropped in value by N0.70kobo, to settle at N6.80kobo from N7.50kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe followed the same path, losing 6.25 percent after trading hours, to sell at N0.45kobo from N0.48kobo per share.
  • Ardova reported a decline of N0.70kobo in its share, depreciating from N13.75kobo to N13.05 per share.
  • Nigerian Breweries share lost N2.05 from previous day’s N60, dropping to N57.95kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • At the end of trading, Livingtrust reported 64.65 million shares valued at N77.58 million, were traded on its floor.
  • Transcorp recorded 31.79 million shares valued at N39.66 million.
  • Access Corporation saw investors trade 29.26 million of its shares worth N275.16 million.
  • Oando 27.72 million shares worth N162.41 million were exchanged.
  • UBA reported that 20.60 million shares exchanged hands of investors, valued at N152.75 million.
