Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the APC primary election in the state, Prof. Adebayo Emmanuel declared him the winner after announcing that he polled 743 delegate votes to defeat other aspirants in the exercise conducted on Thursday at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki, the state capital.
Nwifuru got 743 out of the total 854 votes cast. His closest rival was Rosemary Ofoke, who got 63 votes.
Other aspirants are, Julius Ali Ucha, 22 votes, Elias Mbam Nwalem, 10 votes, and Edward Nkwegu, 8 votes. There were 8 invalid votes.
