Dubai Launches Metaverse Strategy

Dubai Crown Prince, Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched Dubai Metaverse Strategy aimed at boosting country’s quest to be a global frontrunner in adopting digital solutions.

The announcement was made via his Twitter handle on Monday July 18th 2022. Following this, he revealed on Tuesday that the Museum of the Future, an area in the UAE’s city, will host’ “Dubai Metaverse Assembly” in line with Dubai Metaverse Strategy.

The Prince explained that Dubai being home to over 1,000 companies operating in Metaverse and Blockchain sector, the tech space contributes $500 million to the country’s economy.

He stated that the Dubai Metaverse Strategy will lead to discussions by over 300 experts and 40 specialized organizations on opportunities offered by metaverse to humanity. “We harness this promising digital world to be the fastest city to adopt its applications and embrace its potential” Hamdan added.

“With the early adoption of metaverse technology, Dubai seeks to become one of the top 10 metaverse economies and a global frontrunner in adopting digital solutions” disclosed the Prince.

The global event which will be hosted by the Museum of the Future, in September 2022, is tagged ‘Dubai Metaverse Assembly.’

He described the assembly as “a global platform for innovators forging the future of the metaverse,” which will allow participants to experience “extraordinarily” advanced technology.

It was revealed that the UAE city has been longing to become one of the top ten metaverse economies by fostering innovation in the new technology.

Reports by Gulfnews added that the Dubai Metaverse Strategy is the first initiative of the higher committee formed under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the fifth meeting of the Dubai Council in May 2022.

“The committee, chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to oversee all future technological developments in Dubai’s digital economy and ensure that Dubai’s legislative and legal framework keeps up with the rapid developments of the digital economy and tremendous technological progress.” The report stated
