Nigeria striker Emmanuel Dennis enhanced his chances of making a return to Super Eagles reckoning as he provided an assist and scored a back breaking fourth goal for Watford who piled more misery on embattled Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 4-1 thrashing.
The defeat, the fourth in the last five Premier League games has intensified the call for the sack of the Norwegian following a run of poor results of late.
The 2-1 win also means that Solskjaer and his team are 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea who won their contest against Leicester City earlier in the day.
With two goals down at half time, Solskjaer introduced Donny van de Beek at the break, and the Dutch midfielder responded swiftly by heading home within five minutes of his arrival.
Foster who may face stiff test feom Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye next season then did brilliantly to deny Cristiano Ronaldo as the visitors turned up the pressure.
They continued to threaten after Maguire received a second yellow card for a rash challenge on Tom Cleverley in the 70th minute.
But their hopes were dashed as Watford struck twice in stoppage time, Pedro profiting from a Dennis assist and Super Eagles forward Dennis himself drilling low shots past De Gea from tight angles.
Dennis was yellow carded for taking his jersey off in celebration of his goal.
Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost Ekong came off the bench in the second half in place of injured Nikolas Nkolou.
