POLY Network says a total of $4,7772,297.675 has been returned by hackers who exploited its system and stole $600 million worth of cryptocurrency from its blockchain.
Prime Business Africa had reported that cybercriminals exploited a vulnerability in Poly Network, a platform that connects different blockchains to work together in what is regarded as one of the biggest ever cryptocurrency thefts.
According to a Twitter post by Poly Network, the recovered crypto are ETH address: $2,654,946.051, BSC address: $1,107,870.815, and Polygon address: $1,009,480.809.
A blockchain is where encrypted data can be supposedly transferred securely, making it nearly impossible to duplicate or counterfeit.
The hackers had taken thousands of digital tokens such as Ether.
Poly Network had threatened police involvement, but also pleaded with the hackers to “work out a solution”.
The site said an initial probe found a hacker exploited a “vulnerability between contract calls”.
About $267m of Ether currency was taken, $252m of Binance coins and $85 million in USDC tokens were also stolen.
