Critical View Of What To Expect Today Unveiled As PDP Zoning Committee Meets

As the zoning committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) meets today to decide their resolution on zoning of the 2023 presidential ticket, there are currently, two divides in the campaign for the zoning of the presidential ticket.

On the one hand is the pro-zoning group, which wants the presidential ticket to be zoned to the South.

This group consists majorly of PDP leaders from the South, while on the other hand the proponents of no zoning are majorly from the north.

At the head of this group are leaders of the opposition party from the North. The latter wants the PDP presidential ticket thrown open to all qualified aspirants.

Meanwhile, each of the two divides anchors their demands on the quest for equity and fair play. While the pro- zoning group argues that since by convention power has rotated between South and North since the inception of the present democratic dispensation, it will be immoral for the PDP or any of the major political parties to want to field a Northerner as its presidential candidate in 2023, by which time, the North through President Muhammadu Buhari would have occupied the Presidency for eight unbroken years.

As it stands, the PDP seems to be in a fix on how to handle issues surrounding the zoning of the 2023 presidential ticket, without causing disaffection within its fold especially in the southern part of Nigerian fold.

For a critical view of what to expect in today’s meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of Ovation Magazine Dele Momodu who is one of the PDP candidates vying for the Presidential seat in 2023 asserted that the north has been united in their drive to remain in leadership which the south has not done reports Prime Business Africa.

Momodu was live on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Tuesday morning where he spoke on a wide range of issues including why he claims to be a Yoruba man despite originally hailing from Edo State.

Momodu confirmed that there influential Nigerians he described as “owners of Nigeria” and cannot be overlooked by any aspiring presidential candidate should they stand a chance of winning at the polls.

Speaking on the subject of the PDP zoning committee determining  on Tuesday the zoning of the presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Momodu said that the process should have been made an open one.

“Those fighting are not fighting for Nigerians but for power. That’s why this election will be for the highest bidder.”

Momodu who is called Bob D by those close to him revealed that he has an app that ensures that most impoverished Nigerians receive financial assistance.
