Conte Leaves Tottenham Hotspur By Mutual Agreement

Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening confirmed that Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual consent after 16 months in charge.

Conte called the Spurs players “selfish” and criticised the club’s culture in a remarkable news conference after their 3-3 draw at Southampton on 18 March.

The North London club are fourth in the Premier League with 49 points, but are out of all cup competitions with 10 games left to play in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham wrote on their official website on Sunday evening:

“We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future.

“Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach.”

Spurs Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: “We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters.”

Spurs are now searching for their fourth permanent manager in four years since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.

Conte has the third Points per game statistics as a former Spurs manager on 1.91 behind Mauricio Pochettino on 2.51 points.

The Italian coach will be paid the sum of £4 million being his severance package for getting the sack before the expiration of his contract in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s last title came in 2008 in the Carabao Cup. They are currently fourth in the league table.
