Chelsea Stunned By The Saints, Everton Hold Leeds

Chelsea lost their second consecutive league game on Tuesday night with the 2-1 defeat to Southampton at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.

Raheem Sterling put the Blues ahead after a sloppy piece of defending by the home side.

The goal was third in two games but Southampton soon restored parity through 18-year-old midfielder Romeo Lavia who replaced Super Eagles star Joe Aribo in midfield.

Lavia pounced on the ball that fell kindly to his path at the edge of the Chelsea penalty area and he let fly a shot to the bottom right corner.

The strike was his first senior and Premier League goal of the season.

Adam Armstrong atoned for missing two good chances earlier in the game from close range as he fired the team into the lead.

Elsewhere, Aleksander Mitrovic scored his fifth how of the season as Fulham beat Brentford 2-1 at the Craven Cottage.

Lewis Dunk conceded an own goal against his team Brighton but Alexis Mac Allister converted for the Seagulls.

The efforts were too little, too late to salvage any point and Fulham claimed all three points with a 2-1 win.

Chelsea target Anthony Gordon put Everton ahead with another brilliant finish at Elland Road against Leeds United but Luis Sinisterra equalised for the North.

Though Wissa ensured that Brentford shared the spoils with a perfect header to cancel out the strike by Wilfried Zaha.
