President Muhammadu Buhari has formally written to the national assembly requesting it to confirm Mohammed Bello Shehu as Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
A statement by the Special Assistant (Press) to Senate President, Dr. Ezrel Tabiowo, indicated that the Buhari made the request through a letter sent to the national assembly which was read on the floor of the upper house, by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday.
The statement reads, “In accordance with the provision of Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I am pleased to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Mohammed Bello Shehu, as the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
“It is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in the usual expeditious manner. His CV is attached herewith.
“It is my hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in the usual expeditious manner.”
The nomination followed the resignation of Engr. Elias Mbam who who headed the commission until April 2022.
Mbam who served two tenures, resigned to pursue an ambition of becoming the governor of Ebonyi State where he hails from under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
