Buhari Hails Renowned Arts Journalist, Jahman Anikulapo At 60

President Muhammadu Buhari  has expressed warm felicitation to a renowned culture and arts advocate, Jahman Anikulapo, who turned 60 on January 16, 2023.

Anikulapo, a former Editor of The Guardian on Sunday, and The Guardian Life Magazine, celebrated his birthday on 16th January 2023.

He is a member of the Newstide Publications Board as well as the Editorial Board of Prime Business Africa, a publication of Newstide.

A statement released the President’s media aide, Femi Adesina on Wednesday says Buhari shares in the joy of celebrations  by Anikulapo who is  “brimming with youthful energy and readiness to keep shaping the music and film industry with new ideas.

He said the President “lauded the culture activist for his sustained advocacy and celebration of the traditional, iconic, and unique identity of Nigeria and Africa in writing, film, drama and discussions, intentionally documenting history, promoting culture tourism and inspiring generations.

“The President affirms that Anikulapo’s tutelage under some of the best dramatic and literary critics in the world, with many living and teaching in Nigeria, shows in his dedication to creativity, especially in the narrative styles.

“As the journalist, director, actor, and critic uses his creative talent to keep the spotlight on arts and culture as integral aspects of development, President Buhari believes his zeal and knowledge will continue to be relevant in a dynamic world, where values and virtues will shape the future of leadership.”

He added that “President congratulates family members, friends and colleagues of Anikulapo on the joyous occasion of turning 60.

“President Buhari prays for the well-being of the former Guardian newspaper Editor, who leads institutions like Culture Advocates Caucus.”

Friends and former colleagues of Mr Jahman, including the Publisher of Prime Business Africa, Dr Marcel Mbamalu, had organised a tribute evening and colloquium to celebrate the former Editor at the Lagos Freedom Park on January 16. The event was attended by the creme de la creme of the Media and Arts/Culture sectors.
