The plant occupies 500 hectares of land in Lekki Free Trade Zone and is Africa’s largest Granulated Urea Fertiliser complex
The complex was built at a cost of $2.5 Billion, has the capacity to produce 3 million metric tonnes per annum of urea fertiliser in Phase 1.
Africa’s richest man Dangote revealed that the facility is the second largest in the world.
In his speech, President Buhari stated that the plant was his vision for the country to afford food suffiency and reduce dependence on imported fertilizers and create employment for Nigerians.
Buhari after the ribbon cutting and a short bus tour of the plant along with the dignatories departed for the Murtala Muhammed International Airport for the commissioning of the newly built terminal.

1. Aliko Dangote (CEO, Dangote Group)
2. Adebiyi Adebayo (Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment)
3. Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed Abubakar (Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development)
4. Mr. Godwin Emefiele (Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria)
5. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Governor of Lagos State)
6. President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR)
