In a turn of events, the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has declined his nomination to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Finance, highlighting a lack of prior consultation and his packed schedule as reasons.
Speaking through a statement issued by the BUA Group on Friday, Rabiu emphasized his non-partisan stance over the years, firmly rooted in driving economic growth through business initiatives and philanthropy rather than political engagement.
“Our Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, and BUA Group have consistently maintained an apolitical stance, focusing on fostering economic growth and societal change through strategic investments and philanthropy,” stated the company’s official release on X page (formerly Twitter).

The decision to reject the nomination came after Rabiu expressed his disappointment at not being consulted beforehand regarding his inclusion in the committee, coupled with his constrained availability due to extensive business commitments.
“While appreciating the APC’s recognition of our Chairman’s commitment to Nigeria’s development, Mr. Rabiu has chosen to decline the appointment, reiterating his belief in driving positive societal change independently of political roles,” the statement continued.
Emphasizing Rabiu’s dedication to Nigeria’s progress, the BUA Group reaffirmed his commitment to supporting governmental policies conducive to national development while focusing primarily on strategic investments and philanthropic endeavors.
The billionaire businessman’s decision underscores his steadfast dedication to contributing to the nation’s advancement through entrepreneurial pursuits and philanthropy, distancing himself from direct political affiliations or roles.
