Brighton Denies Deal In Place For Sale Of Cucurella To Chelsea, Man City

Despite reports that broke on Wednesday night from some sections of the media that Chelsea and Brighton have agreed a £52.5million deal for left back Marc Cucurella, Brighton Football Club have revealed that that there has not been a concrete agreement for the sale of the defender.

Chelsea have lost a number of transfer targets to the superior negotiating power and pull of Barcelona but were desperate to get the Spaniard from Brighton who was a subject of interest from Manchester City.

However City were not ready to bid for more than £30m for the defender and Chelsea have swooped.

Sky Sports News broke the new of an imminent deal for the defender while fresh reports from TalkSPORTS indicate that there are still some details to be sorted out.

Brighton has subsequently released a statement denying any such agreement with Chelsea, Manchester City or indeed any club for their prized asset.

“Contrary to inaccurate reports from numerous media outlets this evening, no agreement has been reached with any club to sell Marc Cucurella,” the club said on its official website.

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is reportedly expected to go the other way, however, that is expected to be in a separate deal.
