BREAKING: Chris Rock Gets Another ‘Slap’ For Tasteless Jokes

American comedian and victim of the infamous Oscar slap, Chris Rock, reportedly earned more slaps not from Will Smith this time but from fans who lambasted him for ‘tasteless jokes.’

Chris Rock is receiving the backlash for a joke he made about Nicole Brown Simpson’s tragic murder in an attempt to demonstrate to his teeming audience how he had turned down an offer from the Oscars Academy, to host the 2023 Oscars for the third time.

Returning to the Oscars would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant,” Rock reportedly said referencing the night of OJ Simpson’s ex-wife’s murder.

Rock joked, emphasising  that he had no plans to return to the Academy Awards, likening it to asking Simpson “to go back to the restaurant” where she left her eyeglasses before she was killed, according to news reports.

In 1994, Nicole Simpson was stabbed to death and her ex-husband, O.J. Simpson was tried for her murder in one of the most highly-publicized and sensitive cases in history.

However, the joke didn’t sit right on social media as many users have taken to the platform to express their disappointment at Rock and his seemingly thoughtless jokes.

Recall that Will Smith had to slap Chris Rock for making a G.I Jane Joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s Alopecia.

Photojournalist Gregory Anderson said, “Comparing what happened to him to what happened to Nicole Brown Simpson is truly tasteless and not at all funny.”

Many Twitter users also claimed that Rock did not receive this much backlash for the G.I Jane Joke because Jada is black but Nicole was white and the outrage was loud.

Rock and his team are, however yet to comment on these criticisms.

Also, Rock claimed he rejected an offer to be in a Super Bowl commercial.

Rock has hosted the Oscars twice, in 2015 and 2016.

At the Oscars earlier this year, Smith came on stage and slapped Rock after he joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Smith resigned from the Academy and was later banned from attending the Oscars and Academy events for the next 10 years.

Since the Chris Rock and Will Smith slap occurred about six months ago, Chris Rock has been inundated with invitations to appear in films, host awards ceremonies, and even promote merchandise with slap-related themes. Despite this, he has steadfastly declined to do so.

Christopher Julius Rock is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and filmmaker. Known for his work in comic film, television and stage, he has received multiple accolades, including three Grammy Awards for best comedy album and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as a Golden Globe Award nomination.
