Prime Business Africa reliably gathered that the AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq Zoning Committee will be submitting its report having confirmed the list which President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC governors endorsed on March 1, 2022.
The zoning arrangement as approved by the Committee reserves the Chairmanship position to North Central, specifically Senator Abdullahi Adamu from Nasarawa State as approved by the President Buhari and the APC governors; National Secretary goes to South West; while the Southeast takes the position of the National Deputy Chairman (South). South South takes the position of National Publicity Secretary, while Northeast will take the position of National Deputy Chairman (North).
The approved zoning arrangement , therefore, forecloses the possibility of the current Secretary, James Akpanudoedehe, emerging substantive secretary at the March 26 National Convention, since he is from the South South. The same fate befalls Hon. Farouk Adamu from North West who the February 25 list curiously mentioned as having been approved for the position of Deputy National Chairman (North).

Prime Business Africa, however, gathered that Senator Ken Nnamani now stands a better chance of being nominated by Southeast APC leaders after initial squabble following his perceived involvement in the trade-off that saw Southeast lose the position of National Secretary.
”Truth is that Nnamani stands forgiven now and may emerge at the micro zoning level within the Southeast caucus of the APC,” one of the party leaders told Prime Business Africa on Sunday night.
This newspaper has exclusively reported the confusion arising from Mr President signing two different zoning lists in just one week, following the horsetrading and what some members described as subterfuge of the Governor Buni-led caretaker committee to either delay or ensure contrary outcomes at the convention .

The controversial AbdulRahman zoning committee was given a mandate by the Caretaker committee chairman to submit its report on Monday, the same day another controversial Convention Committee was meant to be sworn in.
APC governors were said to be up in arms with both the Convention and the Zoning Committees set up by Buni forcing a reversal to the effect that the Convention Committee will no longer be sworn in on Monday as originally scheduled.
Sources conversant with the entire arrangement told Prime Business Africa that Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker committee in collusion with three other governors, now known as non-convention governors, had something up their sleeve in setting up another zoning committee populated by members opposed to holding the party’s national convention on March 26, after the President had endorsed the zoning arrangement.
It was authoritatively gathered that members of the Progressive Governors Forum had, upon Buni’s appointment of AbdulRahman Zoning committee called the Kwara State Governor to be wary and ensure he returned the list approved by the President and his colleague governors.
