The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) will have a meeting today with the Progressives Governors Forum to finalise plans on kicking off campaign for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.
Prime Business Africa gathered from a reliable source that after today’s NWC meeting, the APC campaign is expected to officially start next week Tuesday ahead of the 2023 general election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially lifted restrictions on election campaigns last Wednesday, September 28, 2022 in line with its schedule/timetable for the 2023 general elections.
Prior to the commencement of campaigns last week, there were reports of alleged disagreement between Tinubu presidential campaign team and the NWC over constitution of the campaign structure which did not receive the endorsement of the latter.
PBA however, observed that all activities have returned to the National Secretariat of the APC, an indication that the ruling party has taken full charge of the presidential campaigns.
A senior member of the party told PBA on Wednesday morning that “the Campaign office of the candidate is now returning to our headquarters, especially as the candidates is still out of the country.”
The PGF chairman and governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu will lead other members of the Forum to the NWC meeting at 12 noon today (Wednesday).
The Nigeria Governors Forum Chairman, and governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi who is also of the APC stock will also be at the meeting.
The Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, is also expected at the meeting.
