Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has praised  the efforts of security agencies in securing the state.

He also thanked the President for the recent approval of N15bn for the repatriation of citizens from the North East living in Chad, Niger and Cameroon as a result of the displacement caused by the insurgency.

While in Borno, President Buhari directed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and its agencies to ensure unimpeded return of Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East.

On her part, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq while speaking on the challenges faced by humanitarian aid workers in the crisis-ridden northeast region, disclosed that 35 aid workers have died, 22 wounded and 28 kidnapped since 2016.

She added that since the beginning of this year, six aid workers have been kidnapped in the country.

The ministry has chosen Borno State for this year’s event which according to the Minister was meant to highlight the humanitarian situation and plight of IDPs in the region and to inspire the much needed change of the situation.
