He humorously recounted Phoebe’s words, stating, “When my daughter Phoebe heard I was coming to Nigeria, she said, ‘You’re lucky because you get to see Burna Boy and Rema,’ so I had to look them up… because I’m so ‘hip.’ But I remember the last time I was here, I got to see Davido and Wizkid perform,” highlighting his previous exposure to Nigerian musical talent.

The philanthropist acknowledged Nigeria’s wealth of creative minds and the global popularity of Afrobeats music originating from the country. Gates recognized the impact of Nigerian talent, stating, “Of course, being here in Nigeria, I can’t help but mention the amazing creativity that goes on here.

Afrobeats from Nigeria are popular everywhere.” He reiterated the excitement expressed by his daughter, Phoebe, who remarked, “‘You’re lucky to go see Burna Boy and Rema.'”

Reflecting on his previous visit, Gates recalled his appreciation for the performances by Davido and Wizkid, two of Nigeria’s most influential musical artists.

He commended their talent and stage presence, emphasizing his admiration for their music. Gates humorously added, “So, my kids think I’ve come to a very hip place,” demonstrating his recognition of Nigeria as a vibrant hub for contemporary music and cultural expression.

Bill Gates’ upcoming encounter with Burna Boy and Rema, as well as his previous experiences with Davido and Wizkid, underscores the global appeal and recognition of Nigerian music artists.
