Balogun Begins Rangers Training Today, No Timescale On Oforborh’s Return From Heart Problems

Glasgow Rangers and Super Eagles center back Leon Balogun is expected to be back in training today (Sunday, 5 December 2021) after the back injury that has kept him away from the club’s games since the arrival of new head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst at the Scottish side.

Balogun last played for his team in the defeat to Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup.

Balogun was not available for the club’s 3-0 win at home over Dundee on Saturday evening in which compatriot Joe Aribo scored the first goal of the match.

“Yes, Leon will train with the squad on Sunday so we have to see his fitness in the coming days but he is a player who we will have back soon,” van Bronckhorst told the media.

Speaking on the return to full fitness of former Nigeria U-20 star Nnamdi Oforborh who joined the Gers from English Championship side Bourtsmouth, van Bronckhorst failed to give a definite timescale when the stricken star who has a heart issue will be available.

“He is still being tested, spoke with him when I arrived and we just have to wait until he sees the doctors and the results, we can go from there but so far nothing is decided.”

Rangers are leading the Scottish Premiership with 39 points from 16 games, seven points adrift of second placed Celtic FC.
