Association Of Movie Producers President, Anyiam-Osigwe Is Dead

President of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is dead.

The Founder of the African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, according to ace movie producer, Zik Zulu Okafor died on Monday night.

Osigwe had been in coma since Saturday, January 7, at Saint Nicholas Hospital, Lagos where she died.

“Our President, Peace, has passed. As at Saturday, she was reported to be in coma at Saint Nicholas. But now her family has confirmed her transition.

“May the memory of her life be a blessing. Rest in peace, dear Peace,” Zik Zulu Okafor, the producer of the 1997 blockbuster Nollywood movie, ‘Nightmare’, starring Pete Edochie and Onyeka Onwenu wrote on a Nollywood platform, available to Prime Business Africa.

Prime Business Africa can report that many industry colleagues of Anyiam-Osigwe were at the Hospital in Surulere to see one of the pillars of the entertainment industry in Nigeria where she was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Award-winning producer, Obi Emelonye also confirmed her passing-on on his social media handles.

Anyiam-Osigwe who began his career as a producer and director in 1986 would be best remembered as one of the most innovative members of the movies sector that shaped the face of Nollywood.

Anyiam-Osigwe directed the first music video of hip-hop sensation, P-Square and in 2012. was conferred with a Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) by the Nigerian government for her contribution to the entertainment industry.

The Nkwerre, Imo State-born Anyiam-Osigwe was a graduate of Law and Political Science of the Oxford Brookes University.

The late Anyiam-Osigwe was an executive member of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) that vetted the membership into the filmmakers’ association of Prime Business Africa’s Entertainment editor, Izuchukwu Okosi in 2004, under then AMP President, Madu Chikwendu.

The family of the deseased is expected to announce her burial rites in the coming days.

Izuchukwu Okosi is a Nigerian sports and entertainment journalist with two decades of experience in the media industry having begun his media journey in 2002 as an intern at Mundial Sports International (MSI) and Africa Independent Television (AIT), owners of Daar Communications Plc. In October 2004, Okosi joined Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports newspaper and Complete Football magazine as a reporter and later script writer for the Complete Sports studio. He worked there for 13 years until October 2017. Okosi also worked various times as Correspondent, Content creator and Editor at Sports Market International Magazine, Opera News, All Nigeria Soccer Media and Iconic Media Watch. He also undertook freelance writing gigs for some local and international organizations. Okosi is a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Association of Voiceover Artistes of Nigeria (AVOA), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line. Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
