Premier League leaders Arsenal moved eight points clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Tottenham in the north London derby at the Tottenham Stadium as Chelsea eased the pressure on manager Graham Potter by beating Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday.
Hugo Lloris conceded an own goal when Bukayo Saka’s shot rattled his palms and forced him to make an expensive gaffe that saw the ball squirm past his hands.
Captain Martin Odegaard, then made it 2-0 before the halftime break when his long-range shot beat the stretched hands of goalkeeper Lloris.
While there will be plenty of celebration from Arsenal’s men’s team following their 2-0 triumph over Tottenham, they took time to send a classy message to women’s team star Beth Mead after the game. A picture showed the whole dressing room united with a home shirt in the middle.
