Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Victor Umeh has described the victory of the party’s flagbearer in the 2021 governorship election in Anambra state, Charles Soludo as a reward of the people to the party.

The triumphant feat of APGA means that the party remains in office after incumbent Willie Obiano graciously steps down after his two-term reins.

Umeh who is a collation agent of APGA spoke to the media shortly after the declaration of Soludo as the undisputed winner of the election.

“APGA had served the people of Anambra well since 2003, and so they have made the decision to continue with the party. It is reward for the party not just in the state but across Nigeria,” Umeh said.

Umeh  who is a Collation agent of the party further stated that the election which was  initially expected to be disrupted prior to last weekend’s polls was the best in the history of Nigeria and that APGA is proud to have won in 19 Local Government Areas and coming second in two others with slim margins.

Umeh praised Soludo as the best candidate from the contestants and ominously warned opposition parties that it will ne a hurculean task to displace the party which is deep-rooted in Anambra.

Umeh hopes that the dividends of the party will translate in having more states governed in the country.

Professor Soludo, who was former Central Bank governor under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was announced as the winner by returning officer Professor Florence Obi early Wednesday morning at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters in Awka.

Obi pronounced the final result  with APGA claiming 112,229; PDP 53,807; APC 43,285 and YPP 21,261 votes.
