The airline is aligning the Awka Airport destination to its Enugu Southeast bouquet following the approval the airport received from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to open the airport to commercial operations on December 1.
Prime Business Africa learnt, on Thursday, that United Nigeria Airlines’ flight operations to Awka will be activated very soon.

Promoters of the airline was said to have reached out to the Anambra State Government with an expression of interest to initiate commercial flights to the new airport in Nigeria’s Southeast state “next week.”
Information about the planned United Nigeria maiden flight to Awka remains sketchy. When Prime Business Africa reached out to one of the airline’s promoters at about 4pm on Thursday, it was learnt that flight operations would actually “commence “soon.
The NCAA had, in a letter to Governor Willie Obiano, approved the commencement of Anambra State’s International Cargo and Passenger Airport for commercial operations with effect from December 2, 2021.
The approval was contained in a statement signed by Captain Musa Nuhu, Director General, a copy of which Prime Business Africa obtained on Thursday.
The aviation authority said it had received clearance from relevant security agencies for the opening.
It said that the negative security clearance was the reason the authority had declined approval for the opening of the airport on October 30, 2021, when the state government had scheduled the commissioning.
