AMA founder Eloine Barry emerges deputy Editorial Board chair of Prime Business

Communications and business expert Eloïne Barry has been appointed to the Editorial Board of Nigeria’s independent online business newspaper, Prime Business. Ms. Barry who has a proven track record in building and managing PR businesses will bring over 15 years of experience to the new role.

Born and raised in France to a Senegalese mother and a father who hailed from Guinea-Bissau, Ms. Barry graduated from Université Lyon 2 in 2003 with a Bachelor in Arts in English Literature and a Degree in Translation and International Relations from ESTRI. In 2005 she graduated from EFAP, Lyon, with a Master’s in Communications.

After her graduation, Barry was employed as a Media Relations Executive at PR Newswire, a press release distribution company headquartered in New York. Being multilingual, she was responsible for promoting PR Newswire’s content and products to general media and trade publications in France and the DACH region in both French and German.

She later joined Africa Press Organisation (APO) as its Executive Director, providing services to African journalists from press releases distribution to access to press conferences. In less than a year she transformed APO into the only commercial wire, disseminating press releases through different channels of distribution in the 54 states of Africa.

In 2015 Barry founded African Media Agency (AMA) as a response to the growing need of companies operating in the African context for more engagements, guidance, and strategy. She opened AMA offices in Abidjan, Kampala, and set up on-the-ground operations in the cities of Cairo, Casablanca, Dakar, Kigali, Nairobi, Johannesburg, and Lagos.

A winner of many awards, Barry was nominated in 2016 and 2017 as African Woman of the year in the media category and is a 2018 MIPAD, a Tony Elumelu Foundation Mentor and sits on the Board of Africa Communications Week. In September 2019, she got awarded Prix Excellent of the ASCOMM 2019.

Barry joins the Editorial Board of Prime Business, an independent online business newspaper published by the multimedia company, Newstide Publications Limited, which offers reliable sources of news and analyses on Africa’s social, economic, and political trends and developments.

Newstide is set to unveil Prime Business on the 22nd of June, 2021, by 2pm at a widely publicised virtual launch to be moderated by former Guardian Editor, Mr. Jahman Anikulapo. Board Chairman of Newstide, Dr. Bongo Adi will be speaking on the theme “Debt Burden and Quest for Economic Recovery”. Other panelists are Eloine Barry, Prof. Pat Utomi and Ambassador Eloho Otobo.
