Al-Qaeda: Bin Laden Successor Killed In US Drone Strike

A year after the United States and her allies pulled out of Afghanistan, a drone strike has been conducted by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) which killed Ayman Al-Zawahiri, the Al-Qaeda leader who succeeded Osama Bin Laden.
The drone fired two missiles which zeroed in on the Al-Qaeda leader, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, and killed him without touching other people in the area.

US President, Joe Biden while delivering the news in a televised address said, “Now justice has been delivered and this terrorist leader is no more.”

The president also said “Since the United States delivered justice to Bin Laden 11 years ago, Zawahiri has been a leader of Al-Qaeda.
“From hiding, he coordinated Al-Qaeda’s branches and all around the world, including setting priorities for providing operational guidance and calling for and inspired attacks against US targets.”

Al-Zawahiri, an Egyptian who is 71, has been on the top list of the United States’ most-wanted terrorists and was killed on Sunday in Kabul, the Afghan capital in a counter-terrorism measure that was authorized by the US president.

The president who sounded a warning to the enemies of the state said “we shall never waver from defending our nation and its people. So no matter how long it takes, no matter where you hide, if you are a threat to our people, the United States will find you and take you out.”

The BBC reported that a spokesman of the Taliban government in Afghanistan said “Such actions are a repetition of the failed experiences of the past 20 years and are against the interests of the United States of America, Afghanistan, and the region.”
